Rohloff strongly represented at the Down-hill IXS Cup start in Ilmenau

This year's down-hill race in Ilmenau stood because of the weather conditions under a bad star.

Continuous rain during the practice on Saturday set its mark for the following days. A short time after the qualification a thunder storm raged over the area to force the breaking-off of the training hours. As a result the finishing area was looking like a small lake and the race track was flooded by rainwater and hailtones. Therefore, may bikers had to start their first running of the race on sunday without having any practice hours or preparation.

The weather at the final at least was dry from "above", the race track partly was still in an extreme muddy condition, which led to frequent delays of riders. One needed a little bit of luck to get along. 650 starters (!) for the main part took the conditions uneffectedly. With the women World-Cup rider Anneke Beerten took the lead. She overcame the German Master Antje Kramer.

  • Place 3 for Miriam Ruchti (IXS/Rohloff) before her team college Silja Stadler (IXS/Rohloff).
  • With the men's class Frank Schneider with his Nicolai G-Boxx Bike (Rohloff SPEEDHUB inside) took the lead.
  • More good placemenst for Ueli Guntli (IXS/Rohloff) as 13th and Stefan Hengartner (IXS/Rohloff) as 36th.
  • In the Junior's class Patrick Meyer (IXS/Rohloff) rode to rang 13.
  • In the Master's class Marcel Waldmann (IXS/Rohloff) stood with 3rd place on the podium, during the first running he was second place.
  • Der Rohloff Product Manager himself took 8th place after having met a tree in the middle of his track. In the first running he got 6th rang even with a flat tyre. That’s life!
