Patrick Uhlig Superior Winner of the 2nd Saarschleifen-Marathon

With an impressing solo Patrick Uhlig established himself agains powerful international competitors at the second edition of the Saarschleifenmarathon on a long-distance race track after 96km and 2.700m hight in a time of 3:57h.

A week after a fourth place at the Baden-Württemberg Masters of the cross-country elite, which meant winning the titel of Badensian National Association, the 23 years old biker from Fribourg was in his very best condition.

From start on the Netherland fraction put pressure on everyone due to a high primary speed, which only the suprisingly second placed Kubis could follow. Patrick got behind at the first crossing of the Saar due to a driving-fault of a Belgium biker , but could regain as the only one a place at the top of the race. For this reason the preliminary decision has been made after 45min.

At the beginning of the second lap a defective gear system stopped the man from the Netherlands and Patrick thanks to his superior cycling technique could make a solo performance on the last 20 km, where he was able to establish another 3 minutes. Bekkenk fought for a 3rd place on the podium before Christian Fischer and his compatriot and partner at the Transalp Marcel Esser. Beaming with joy the winner expressed at the finishing line to the journalists:
„I definately wanted to win today, after I missed last years performance on the same spot due to two flat tyres.

My tactics have turned out well, today.“
