News from Tilman Waldthaler

Tilmann Waldthaler on the road again.

From Europe through Asia all the way to Australia.

This fall I will start my bikeride back to Australia.

After having visited 120 countries and cycled over 400.000 kilometers in all continents, I am returning to the place were it all started 27 years ago. The ride back to Australia will start in Germany and I will first travel through Austria, Italy Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia and Greece. Hoping to be in Greece sometimes towards the end of October 04 . From Greece I will continue on to Turkey, Jordan and Syria before returning into Turkey on my way to Iran and Pakistan and India.

Once I am on the Indian Subcontinent, I will try to get into China and do a big loop into Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia before heading south towards Australia.

During my last big trips I have learned not to set my mind on days, time and certain routes, because we are living in an ever changing world. Having the possibility to do just that makes travelling so much easier. In times when I do not know where and when the next bomb will blow up, I think it is important for travellers to be alert and have the chance to make quick decisions. If we are living in a society in which power, religion, wars and chaos have become the basic elements of our social structures it is very sad. We have to be realistic about the elementary changes in the worlds desires and shortcomings. Even we cyclists should become aware of a dissatisfied population in many countries and travel with a little more understanding and awarness for others. I have an idea which route I would like to take. If I can do it… time will tell. However looking back I have travelled a long time with similar ideas and everything went well during the last 27 years. If you are interested to follow my trip back to Australia, get yourself onto my homepage and see and read what will happen. The menuebuttons “ONTOUR RIDING TO AUSTRALIA” and “NEWSFLASH” will give you all the latest news.

Looking forward in seeing you there.
