IXS Cup Schweiz # 2

Wiriehorn July 29./30. 2006

Wiriehorn is a mixture of quick passages with technical parts, some jumps and tread passages. The ground consists of meadow, rock, and root.

To sum up, a complete track with all facets which defines this kind of sport. Additionally, its length of approx. 3km is considerably long and commands all condition one has. The competitors are always high ranked and results are always relatively close.

With the men Nick Beer (IXS/Rohloff) rode again a spirited race to gain a very good 5th place. Not too satisfied his brother Marcel Beer (IXS/Rohloff) should be with his 13th place. Ueli Guntli (IXS/Rohloff) on rank 24 and Stefan Hengartner (IXS/Rohloff) rank 27 rounded up the results.

With the women Miriam Ruchti (IXS/Rohloff) could not start due to her injury she suffered recently in Rittershausen. Silja Stadler was after her own statement just too slow and gained only 5th place. Nevertheless, she had only to be quicker by 3 sec. to reach a place on the stairs...

Marcel Waldmann (IXS/Rohloff) won again the German Masters title. In the final Carsten Geck (Rohloff Factory) was lacking the necessary agility and freshness which are demanded on this track. Too much practise, the hard race in Küblis and a serious crash during practise ‚gnawed’ on his physical abilites. More than 8th rank was not possible. Whatever, only 5 sec. quicker would have meant a jump into the top 5. Well, it goes harder and harder these days.

With the juniors Patrick Meyer place himself with a good run on rank seven.
