Afterwards you ask yourself, who actually had this crazy idea of particpating in such an event. Someone may have found it advertised in the internet and has sent an e-mail to ask, if it could be something for us. So, we were on our way to Buchholz to take part with a four men team. The circled race track was technically demanding and had some severe up-hill and nice down-hill passages which had partially trail character. What more could one ask for? The organisation of the race was effectively. For such a first event nearly everything turned out right. The framework couldn't be better thanks to the good weather conditions.

For the Rohloff Factory Team were on the start:

As none of us has ever participated in such a race, we did not know what to think of and how we should plan our strategy. Therefore, we sent our starting rider into first to experience what would happen. He is the strongest one in our team and had immediately worked out a good lead, which was looking quite alright for us. The Pirate Team, then, took his starting biker out of the race and put likewise their strongest rider in, which turned the race a lot, so after another 2 hours we laid back some laps. This strategy of the Pirate Team was the reason that we laid even more back from lap to lap. In the end we reached 3rd place.
