Rectification of an Article in Magazine Aktiv-Radfahren to SPEEDHUB Weight!

On page 69 in the Sept.-Oct. 2010 issue of Aktiv-Radfahren magazine, there is a comparison between the weights of Shimano's Alfine 11-speed hub and the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14. In this article it is said that the Shimano Alfine 11-speed hub would be 250g lighter than the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14. This is incorrect! The difference in official weights is accountable to different methods of weighing. If the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 be put on the scales and weighed identically to the Shimano Alfine 11-speed hub (see photo to the right) the SPEEDHUB 500/14 would only weigh approx. 1545g.

In other words, if teh weighing methods were identical between both products, the article would have read "The SPEEDHUB 500/14 is 100g lighter than the Shimano Alfine 11-speed hub". Additionally the weight of the Shimano Alfine 11-speed hub was stated wrongly in the article with 1590g. Here it should be better to stick to the specifications of the manufacturer with approx. 1650g.
