Freeride Race of the Bike Masters in Küblis

An outstanding placement for Carsten Geck (Rohloff Factory Team) at the Freeride Race in Küblis this year.

The Rohloff Product Manager failed the top 10 just by one place – and this with a bunch of most powerful competitors. He now claims the title of the best placed rider over 40 years of age. But, unfortunately, a division in classes does not exist for this race.

The track was only in the upper third part selective and technically demanding. At this time Carsten was still in third position after Silvio Bundi and René Wildhaber. Then followed an extremely exhausting gravel road downhill, which demanded condition more than riding ability. So, it happened that two or three riders could pass.

At the end of the track there came the "highlight" of the race: A gradient of 80 height meters in a length of 500m had to be overcome! Here more conditional specialists could pass Carsten again (among others Daniel Soler).

To Sum Up:

The track is more conditionally demanding than technically. In this case the advantage lies with the conditional specialists like Silvio Bundi. The measure above all is still René Wildhaber, who won the race for the seventh time already.
