The Highland Fling!

The Highland Fling is one of Australia's most popular marathon cross country races. This years (2014) course stretched over 114km and dished up a single-track packed route with a total 2474m of climbing in the heat of New South Wales' Southern Highlands.

Following a relatively slow start, Ollie rode into the race, reeling back competitors and surging ahead on the forested Wingello section. Neither dry, dusty conditions nor wheel deep river crossings phased his Rohloff drive train, and he crossed the finish line in a total of 5 hours and 24 minutes to secure first place in open men's category.

Not afraid of other bike related challenges and with energy to spare, Ollie then also lined up for the trackstand competition where he out balanced various opponents with a skilled display of one-handed, one-footed bicycle balancing.
