Bosch E-Bike System:
591, Authorization Error
Failure Description:
Error code 7591 is displayed in the Bosch diagnostic tool yet has zero influence upon eBike transmisison nor E-14 functionality
Effect:
- Full, normal function remains unaffected
- Error code displayed in Bosch diagnostic tool ONLY
Correction:
- Ensure both Bosch and Rohloff E-14 systems are running the latest firmware versions. Update if necessary.
595, Error in der CAN-Bus Communication - longer than 10 seconds after system start
Shifting possible
Failure Description:
Error code 595 is displayed both in the cockpit as well as the Bosch diagnostic tool.
The E-14 shifter unit (mounted to SPEEDHUB), "peeps" 3 times when the Bosch eBike system is initially switched ON.
Effect:
- System functionality unaffected
- Error only present in Bosch software cache
Possible cause:
E-14 shifter unit was not connected to Bosch eBike cable loom when system was initially switched ON.
Correction:
- Delete error code form Bosch software cache
- Ensure the current E-14 firmware is being used
- Reset the Bosch eBike system (switch OFF, then ON)
Shifting not possible
Failure Description:
- Error code 595 is displayed in the cockpit as well as the Bosch diagnostic tool
- E-14 equipped SPEEDHUB does not shift
- The E-14 shifter unit (mounted to SPEEDHUB), does not "peep" 3 times when the Bosch eBike system is initially switched ON
Effect:
- Shifting gears no longer possible
Correction:
- Switch Bosch eBike system off and check cable connection between:
- Bosch motor & Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter
- Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter & Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit
Switch Bosch eBike System back ON - Complete process with just one battery fitted (dual battery systems). Swap which battery is used during the process and repeat. Should the system fail to power-up then that one battery is defective. Replace faulty battery
- Swap parts with those of a second bike, in sequence, to locate source of error
- Connect E-14 shifter unit from a different wheel
- Swap out extension cable between DC/DC CAN Converter and E-14 Shifter Unit
- Swap out DC/DC CAN Converter
Delete error code form Bosch software cache once error has been rectified.
Check the latest E-14 firmware has been installed.
Ship the E-14 shifter unit to us for inspection should the error remains present (Service Formula).
596, Error in the CAN-Bus Communication - longer than 1 second during operation
Failure Description:
Error code 596 is displayed both in the cockpit as well as the Bosch diagnostic tool
The E-14 shifter unit (mounted to SPEEDHUB), "peeps" 3 times when the Bosch eBike system is initially switched ON.
Effect:
- System functionality unaffected
- Error only present in Bosch software cache
Possible cause:
E-14 shifter unit was disconnected from the eBike cable loom while the Bosch eBike system was switched ON.
Correction:
- Delete error code form Bosch software cache
- Ensure the current E-14 firmware is being used
- Reset the Bosch eBike system (switch OFF, then ON)
- Switch Bosch eBike system off and check cable connection between:
- Bosch motor & Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter
- Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter & Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit
Switch Bosch eBike System back ON
606, External short circuit -> no power supply, system shutdown
Failure Description:
- external short circuit
Possible cause:
- no power supply, system shutdown
Correction:
- please check connectors (Hirose-connector) and cable for damage or manipulation
- check DCDC-Can converter and E-14 shifter unit, try to verify with cross change
740, Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit is blocked
Failure Description:
Error code 740 is displayed in the cockpit and not present in the Bosch diagnostic tool.
Possible cause:
- E-14 system attempted to send the shift command 5x times
- The 6th failed attempt created the error code
- The error code will be deleted once a shift is sucessfully completed
Correction:
- Switch Bosch eBike system on/off
- Avoid shifting under load
- Ensure the small cog, under the axleplate is neither damaged nor mounted incorrectly (SPEEDHUB owners manual)
- Reset the Bosch eBike system (switch OFF, then ON)
Continue using as normal if error is rectified.
Shifting still not possible:
Contact the Rohloff SPEEDHUB Service Department (Service Formula).
741, Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit – Error Position Sensor
Failure Description:
Error code 741 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the Bosch diagnostic tool.
Troubleshooting:
Delete code from cockpit.
Restart the Bosch eBike system.

743, Inadequate energy supply for Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit
Failure Description:
Shifting no longer possible with the Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit.
Error Code 743 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the Bosch diagnostic tool.
Correction:
Switch the Bosch eBike system OFF, then check cable connections between:
- Bosch motor & Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter
- Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter & Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit
Switch Bosch eBike System back ON

744, Communication error between Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit & Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter

Error code 744 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the Bosch diagnostic tool.
Possible cause:
- E-14 system was not correctly initialized, delayed CAN bus signal from the DCDC-Can converter during eBike's starting phase.
Effect:
- The E-14 shifter unit (mounted to SPEEDHUB), "peeps" 3 times when the Bosch eBike system is initially switched ON.
- Shifting gears no longer possible
Correction:
- Restart the eBike, if the error occurs again immediately, contact Rohloff SPEEDHUB Service (Service Formula) Please submit a photo of error code in cockpit.
- Replace DC/DC Can Converter
745, Auto-calibration unsuccessful
Failure Description:
Error code 745 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the Bosch diagnostic tool.
Possible cause:
- Auto-calibration process was not completed or not saved successfully
- Error during autocalibration process
- Force applied to pedals during auto-calibration process
Correction:
- Shift into lowest possible gear, before starting the auto-calibration process
- Repeat auto-calibration process (auto-calibration)
Should the E-14 still not shift the full spectrum, then it will need to be manually calibrated.
- Bring the bicycle to your local, authorized dealer for completion of the manual calibration process.
Panasonic FIT System:
80-76, Communication error. Rohloff E-14 not found during system start
Shifting possible
Failure Description:
Error code 80-76 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the diagnostic tool.
The E-14 shifter unit (mounted to SPEEDHUB), "peeps" 3 times when the system is initially switched ON.
Effect:
- System functionality unaffected
Possible cause:
Panasonic FIT software routine incompleted when system was initially switched ON.
Correction:
- Ensure the current E-14 firmware is being used
- Reset the Panasonic FIT eBike system (switch OFF, then ON)
Shifting not possible
Failure Description:
- Error code 80-76 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the diagnostic tool.
- E-14 equipped SPEEDHUB does not shift
- The E-14 shifter unit (mounted to SPEEDHUB), does not "peep" 3 times when the eBike system is initially switched ON
Effect:
- Shifting gears no longer possible
Correction:
- Switch Panasonic FIT eBike system off and check cable connection between:
- Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit & Rohloff E-14 extension cable
- Rohloff E-14 extension cable & Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter
- Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter & Panasonic FIT Y-cable
- Swap parts in sequence, with those from a second bike (or our diagnostic kit), to locate source of error
- Connect E-14 shifter unit from a different wheel or from diagnostic kit
- Swap out extension cable between
- Swap out DC/DC CAN Converter
- Swap out Panasonic FIT Y-cable (only available from Flyer)
- Ensure the current E-14 firmware is being used
- Switch Panasonic FIT eBike system back ON
- Check shift function of E-14 Shifter Unit
- Contact Rohloff support if the the error remains present (Service Formula).
80-77, Communication loss between eBike system and Rohloff E-14 during operation
Shifting possible
Failure Description:
Error code 80-76 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the diagnostic tool.
The E-14 shifter unit (mounted to SPEEDHUB), "peeps" 3 times when the system is initially switched ON.
Effect:
- System functionality unaffected
- Error code stored only in the system cache
Possible cause:
E-14 system was disconnected from eBike cable loom while Panasonic FIT eBike was switched ON.
Correction:
- Ensure the current E-14 firmware is being used
- Reset the Panasonic FIT eBike system (switch OFF, then ON)
- Check each cable connection in turn and check system function after each step:
- Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit & Rohloff E-14 extension cable
- Rohloff E-14 extension cable & Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter
- Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter & Panasonic FIT Y-cable
E-14 equipped bicycle can be used further without concern
81-740, Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit is blocked
Failure Description:
Error code 81-740 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the diagnostic tool.
Possible cause:
- E-14 system attempted to send the shift command 5x times

81-744, Communication error between Rohloff E-14 Shifter Unit & Rohloff E-14 DC/DC-CAN Converter
Failure Description:
Error code 81-744 is ONLY displayed in the cockpit and not present in the diagnostic tool.
Effect:
- The E-14 shifter unit (mounted to SPEEDHUB), still "peeps" 3 times when the eBike system is initially switched ON
- Shifting gears no longer possible
Correction:
- Replace DC/DC Can Converter. Please submit a photo of error code in cockpit, along with a fully completed service formula
81-745, Auto-calibration unsuccessful
Failure Description:
Error code 81-745 is displayed in the cockpit ONLY and not present in the diagnostic tool.
Possible cause:
- Auto-calibration process was not completed or not saved successfully
- Error during autocalibration process
- Force applied to pedals during auto-calibration process
Correction:
- Shift into lowest possible gear, before starting the auto-calibration process
- Repeat auto-calibration process (auto-calibration)
Should the E-14 still not shift the full spectrum, then it will need to be manually calibrated.
