Mounting the Rohloff E-14 Trigger Shifter
The new Rohloff E-14 Trigger Shifter offers improved operation and functionality, especially when used with older E-14 systems (version 1.0) in conjunction with Bosch BES2 drive systems.
With these older systems, manual confirmation of the auto-calibration was previously necessary using the M button on the switch. With the introduction of the new Trigger Shifter, this button is no longer required. To ensure that the auto-calibration function continues to work properly, a software update of the E-14 switching unit is required. This update can be carried out using the E-14 1.0 Classic app and upgrades the software to version 2.4.7.0.
After this update, the auto-calibration completes automatically without the need for manual confirmation using the M button. This makes it easier to use and ensures that the switching system functions smoothly with the new Trigger Shifter.
You can find out how to install it here:
The Rohloff E-14 Trigger Shifter can only be installed on the right side of the handlebar between the rubber grip and the brake lever.
Position the Trigger Shifter on the handlebar so that the function of the brake lever is not impaired and both levers can be reached ergonomically with your thumb and index finger.
Note: Installation on the left side of the handlebar is not possible.
To install the Rohloff E-14 Trigger Shifter, unscrew the clamp. To do this, unscrew the two clamp screws (TX10) anti-clockwise.
Position the E-14 Trigger Shifter on the handlebar between the brake lever and the rubber grip with the connection cable pointing towards the center of the handlebar.
Only tools for hexagon sockets or Torx(R) TX10 are suitable.
Note: Similar tools, such as Torx PLUS(R), Würth ASSY(R) or smaller TX10 are not suitable and will damage the screw head.
We recommend tools with a T-handle or screwdriver handle.
Place the clamp in the correct position on the handlebar tube (wide side of the clamp facing forward on the trigger guide) and screw in the front Torx screw (TX10) clockwise with a slight twisting motion until there is no gap. Tighten the Torx screw with 0.8Nm.
Then screw in the rear Torx screw and tighten with 0.8Nm.
The Trigger Shifter must now be firmly fixed to the handlebar tube.
Make sure that the brake lever does not collide with the Trigger Shifter or any other components when pulled.

To ensure that the auto-calibration function continues to work properly, a software update of the E-14 (1.0) system is required. This update can be performed via the E-14 1.0 Classic App (Android only) and will upgrade the software to version 2.4.7.0 or higher.
After this update, the auto-calibration will complete automatically without the need for manual confirmation using the M button. This makes it easier to handle and ensures that the shifting system functions smoothly with the new Trigger Shifter.
Cable routing on handlebar / frame
The cable connector should be anchored/attached to the handlebar in such a way that it cannot be kinked, twisted or broken during normal cycling use or squashed via the use of other components. (e.g. use of brake levers, attachment of handlebar bags etc.). Extra caution is required to ensure internally routed cables are hindered from abrasion.
Routing cables and/or anchoring the cable connectors to the handlebar must not hinder the function of any other component located on the handlebar or frame.
