The Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 gear-hub, Serial Number 111.111 with its 24 carat gold-plated hub exterior was the man prize of the Wanted-Day campaign. This one-of-a-kind is now being auctioned off by its winner Peter Smolka together with the Rohloff AG. All proceeds from the auction will be going to the charity organisation Médecins Sans Frontières. The auction ends on the 13.09.2009 at 12:00 Ebay-time.
Peter Smolka is one of the participants from the Wanted Day campaign, who managed to clock up over 60.000 Kilometre with one and the same Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 gear-hubs.
His SPEEDHUB has travelled once around the entire globe, and in doing so has visited 55 different countries and their different cities. Amongst these was Kabul in Afghanistan. For many years now Peter has supported various charity projects in Africa and Peru. Through the use of his Website www.lemlem.de he collects donations for the charity organisations Karl Heinz Böhm Foundation Menschen für Menschen and Médecins Sans Frontières.
Seeing the potential of this rare and sought after product, he decided to auction the 24 carat gold-plated Rohloff SPEEDHUB, Serial Number 111.111 for a good cause.
On the 13th September 2009 at 12:00 Ebay time this masterpiece of German engineering, the 24 carat gold plated SPEEDHUB, Serial Number111.111 will be given to the highest bidder. All proceeds from the winning bidder will be presented to the charity organisation Ärzte ohne Grenzen. The auction is open worldwide to all who possess an Ebay account.
