Saar Bank Marathon, St. Ingbert

One of the most beautiful, though most difficult German race courses should be the St. Ingbert marathon trail. With its 94km length and 2.800m altitude differences and some ultra-difficult downhill tracks the race course paid credit to its name. Masses of spectaculators, fabulous trails lined the track around the city at the river Saar. Patrick, Paul and Steven had been getting down to a piece of work taking the lead in the beginning. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to achieve best results anytime you want to. Both, Paul still exhausted from the 12 hour Todtnauberg-race and Patrick with an aching back, caused by a trapped nerve, were not able to get along and lost precious rangs. Sven, with the highest motivation caused by the Ötztaler Bike Marathon, was the only one to keep the lead, ending with a good 23rd place. Both P.s rode together for a while, but unlucky. Paul’s frame cracked during a crash - race over for him. Patrick rode with much pain to the finishing line achieving only 35th place. Not masterly managed, but struggeling for success at that day. One never stops learning. Next time in Musingen and after that back again to the sunny Roc d’Azur at the Cote d’Azur.
