Rohloff Unveils the New E-14 Solo at Eurobike 2026 – Redefining Independent Shifting
Fuldatal / Frankfurt am Main. At Eurobike, Rohloff is introducing the new Rohloff E-14 Solo, the next evolution in electronic gear shifting for internal gear hubs. Combining uncompromising sustainability with intuitive operation and exceptional shifting speed, the new system has already been recognized as a Eurobike Award Winner 2026 ahead of its official market launch.
Designed for both flat bar and drop bar bikes, the E-14 Solo expands the legendary SPEEDHUB platform into an even broader range of applications—from cargo bikes and trekking bikes to urban mobility and modern gravel bikes.
The name “Solo” represents a clear philosophy: independent, self-contained, and reduced to the essentials. The E-14 Solo operates entirely without an app, cloud connectivity, or user account. Instead of relying on digital ecosystems, Rohloff focuses on direct control and maximum reliability. The proven E-14 2.0 shifting unit can be operated intuitively via Rohloff triggers on flat bars or TRP Hywire brifters on drop bar handlebars.
Sustainability was a key development objective from the outset. The E-14 Solo is fully compatible with every SPEEDHUB ever produced, making it easy to retrofit existing systems. This extends product lifecycles, conserves resources, and protects customers’ investments. Combined with low-maintenance drivetrain solutions such as Gates Carbon Drive, the result is an extremely low-wear system built for years of dependable use.
The E-14 Solo also sets new technical benchmarks.
The renowned E-14 -electronic gear mech, which itself won the Eurobike Gold Award back in 2017, has finally been paired with its own power supply for solo integration. The software of this system has also been optimized so the E-14 enters sleep-mode when not in use, saving power and extending battery life. As soon as the rider shifts, the system wakes and processes the requested command immediately.
The E-14 SOLO battery is available as an internal, frame integrated OEM version and external, bottle-cage mounted aftermarket version, each ensuring the rider can shift comfortably for many hundreds of kilometers – just as you’d expect from a Rohloff product. When it comes time to charge, the process couldn’t be any simpler. The battery can be charged easily using an existing USB-C PD plug and common USB-C cable which connects to the system via an in-line charging port located near the handlebar stem. Multishift – the ability to rapidly shift multiple gears at once in a 3-gear sequence, is also present with the new E-14 SOLO.
At the same time, the Rohloff E-14 Solo ranks among the fastest electronic shifting systems on the market, executing gear changes with lightning-fast precision, even while stationary.
Despite its robust construction, the E-14 Solo adds only minimal weight compared with current electronic derailleur systems. Combined with the proven 14-speed SPEEDHUB and its 526% gear range, it delivers a drivetrain that uniquely combines performance, durability, and minimal maintenance.
With an attractive retrofit price of under €1,000 for existing SPEEDHUB owners, as well as complete system options including the SPEEDHUB gear hub, the Rohloff E-14 Solo is aimed equally at OEM partners and end customers. Fully integrable, highly versatile, and consistently sustainable, it offers a future-oriented shifting solution for a wide range of bicycle applications.
