On October 27th 2010 the Rohloff AG was awarded in the Technoseum in Mannheim/Germany as "The Most Bicycle-Friendly Employer" of Germany (category - company size: 10-50 employees). The organisation B.A.U.M. e.V. started this contest at the beginning of 2010 for the very first time. Conditions were: Bicycle riding is healthy and preserves climat and environment. This contest was directed to employers and honorated the conceptual and all-embracing effort of the employer to encourage cycling of their employees.

The bicycle is an absolute climate and environment friendly means of transportation and an excellent and often faster alternative to the motor vehicle in built up areas and for short trips. Nevertheless, it is often underestimated and has, therefore, a minor significance especially for businesses. Because of that, B.A.U.M. wants to contribute to the use of bicycles in the companies. This means using the bicycle for the commute to and from work in the close proximity and for short distance business trips. The aim of the activity is to help promotion of bicycles as a means of transport in companies and to establish there a permanent bicycle promotion.

The contest has been supported by the German minister of transport Dr. Peter Ramsauer and the former environmental minister Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer.
