Extreme draught, temperatures up to 40°C and sand as far as the eye can see – not exactly comfortable conditions for hobby athletes. The five Hinterlander mountain bikers have chosen this terrain especially for their new record attempt. During their recent tour across Namibia they even rode straight through the Namibian desert. "Experiencing History", has been the motto of Ulrich Weigel, Jörg Krug, Siegfried Pitzer, Matthias Schmidt, and Harald Becker for 18 years. Their most recent adventure led them through the Southern countries of Africa. It was here, during their investigation into the Namibia project that they came across the largest dunes in the oldest desert of the world, the Namib.
