'High Efficiency Karlsruhe' at Europes largest efficient energy competition 2012

Rotterdam, the 17th of May 2012 - The start of Europes largest efficient energy competition. The 'Shell, Eco-marathon. Following 3 years at the Brandenburg 'Lausitzring', the competition moved up a step and for the first time took place in the city-centre and thus under more realistic conditions. The challenge is simple - To design and construct a vehicle with the least thirst possible. The participants were all given approximately 1 liter of fuel with which to cover the greatest distance possible. A simple task but difficult to achieve! This year saw over 3000 students taking part and over 180 teams from a total of 24 different nations.

After 4 successful laps the results were in:
The team „High Efficiency Karlsruhe“ achieved an impressive 667km with their 1 Liter of fuel. With that result the students won a respectable 18th place (out of 43 total teams) in the Prototype class on this their 2nd ever competition. This result made them the second fastest German team and what transmission system do you think helped them win this? Thats right, a Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14!
