Supercharged to the north cape
444.000 kilometers (11x around the earth / to the moon and beyond that) is what we've already travled on our mother earth and that without any flights. When we decided to go to the north cape with our expedition vehicle named Terra Love and e bikes, we didn't know what indescribable nature paradise was expecting us. With no doubts a country of superlatives. A country of fjords, waterfall, trolls, moose, reindeer, sperm whales and the most beautiful northern lights in the world. We had barely crossed the border when it already closed again, because of the rising Covid cases. For nearly 6 months we've been on the way almost completely alone. We were stunned by steps drawn in autumnal shades, deserted, sometimes moon like landscapes and and endless forests, that were encased by waftingfog walls and ghost like clouds. We passed some of the 188 mounatins, some of the 300 sometimes torrential impressive waterfalls, 50 fjords and 150.000 islands, that have together with the land a coastline of 100.000 km.
Wow! what a journey, a journey, that catapulted us to regions, that we hadn't expected at all. We experienced exeptional hospitality, crossed the biggest european mainland glacier with our e bikes Josdedalsbreen, swam in the north sea, saw how the evening sun got reflected on a sperm whales skin. We climbed lighthouses, wandered into the mountains on dangerous paths, sat on thin pinnacles that vertically went 1000 meters down and warmed ourselves on the campfire in starry nights.
In the land of the vikings we followed their steps, felt their breaths and thought to hear how their frightening war cries echoed from the cliffs. We experienced a winter with ice and snow, hurricanes with over120 km/h, survived an almost-crash with two very fast sportscars that came right towards us in the mountains and a truck of which the driver seemed to have fallen asleep. We used many of the 100 bike paths, crossed countless of the 22.700 bridges and cycled through many of the 900 tunnels, also the Lærdal tunnel, that is with 24,5 km the longest and the Ryfylke tunnel, that is with 290 meters the deepest in the world. An impressive soon fabulous country, with extreme weathers, full of adventures, full of romance, full of myths, that left us in awe every minute with its breathtaking wild life, the cold quilting, national parks and bird sanctuaries. The cherry on top - the north cape without any people, soon polar light, that would stretch over our heads everyday and enflame the sky, e bike tours on the north cape and on the islands, covered in snow, Senja that is 350 km north of the arctic circle. It was a breathtaking journey, of which the people and the stories was spread all oder the world. It was an unforgettable journey and certainly on of the best we ever did.
