14th documenta - 14 Countries - 14 Gears

Two school mates, two towns, one destination:

Leon Groß and Vincent Keller rode an adventurous bicycle tour from Athens to their hometown of Kassel in Germany. This was not just a bicycle tour it was a part of a self-designed project.

Both 20 year old boys first met back in senior school and have participated in many sports together. After passing their A-levels two years ago and completing a year of voluntary service (Leon near Kassel and Vincent in South Africa), they both decided to delay their further studies for a while and instead laid the foundations to accomplish a long desired dream, for an adventurous cycle expedition through Europe.

After dismissing various tour ideas they decided to combine both documenta sites. The 2017 documenta event was the 14th documenta so they extended their plans to travel through 14 countries as well. Starting with the documenta 14 opening on April the 8th in Athens, Leon and Vincent proceeded to ride 4,300km by bike across Eastern Europe. 64 days later with their traveling bags full of great experiences and valuable encounters, the two young men arrived punctually at the Friedrichsplatz in Kassel, Germany for the documenta 14 opening on June the 10th.

A bicycle tour full of positive impressions and great memories that will never be forgetten by the two young men. Read more from their adventurous trip and the various corresponding press articles on their blog:
