The Rohloff AG is engaged for the first time in 1990, the Tour de France in the international premium-class of bicycle road racing sports. Since then, Rohloff bicycle chains have been successfully used in top-class bicycle races. Richard Virenque, one of the greatest bicycle racers, won in 1995 and in 1996 the green "mountain" jersey of the Tour de France. He relied especially on the quality of the Rohloff chain S-L-T99.
