ROHLOFF S-L-T 99 TRIAL

The extremely high level of force applied upon a trial or track racing chain requires the use of a wider 1/2" x 1/8" chain to achieve the sufficient amount of safety reserve within the pins. These chains however, have either no, or very little ability to perform as a gear chain. This is the reason why the majority of trial riders still prefer to use the normal small 1/2" x 3/32" gear chains.

To achieve the production of a gear chain that is strong enough to achieve the sufficient amount of safety reserve, the Rohloff S-L-T 99 Trial is built with reinforced riveted pins.

We know that this chain is a compromise between the technically optimal chain and the normal gear chain. In unlucky trial situations, it is still possible that the chain could become damaged and then break.

For this reason, we reccommend that the trial rider should regulary check the chain for signs of damage and make sure that all of the pins are still correctly riveted in place, when not, then the chain should be immediately replaced. The chain should be correctly riveted together with the Rohloff Revolver 2 and this process should be repeated on the other side of the chain to ensure an even spread of any stress in this vital area.
