With Rohloff Single SPEEDHUB at the Craft Bike Trans Germany
To a special credit at the Trans Germany the SPEEDHUB Nr. 52882 was coming as Bill Fehr from North Carolina recognised with fear a broken frame standing in the middle of the starting field of the first stage. What to do?
Mathias Mende of the team "Sachsen-Express" didn't hesitate and organised the bike of Generator company rider Albrecht Haenel (Albi). Albi had to give away his bike, because it fitted best to Bill's size (short and compact).
There was only one more problem to solve: Bill is a fanatic Single-Speeder.
In short: 8th gear engaged (total transmission 42/16*0,682=1,79), Knipex produced, snip, snip - away with the shifter cables, twist-shifter taken off, and the Rohloff Single-SPEEDHUB was finished. With a brilliant performance Bill Fehr and his companion Rebecca mastered all parts of the race track and reached the finishing line in Oberwiesenthal/Germany after 51.51h.
It has been especially impressive to watch Bill taking with approx. 20 revolutions of his sighing pedals his bike and himself the last 600m of height up the Fichtelberg. Still, "Mr. Painless Knee" was able to grin at the spectators. We congratulate Bill and Rebecca to this grand performance.
Yours Doc Rohloff live from the Trans Germany
